Bakoven at a glance

Bakoven

In between the vibey glamour of Camps Bay and the Nature Reserve, lies nestled the more peaceful, but no-less-exclusive, suburb of Bakoven.  With the backdrop of the Twelve Apostles and bisected by Victoria Road, the suburb manages to retain a more village-like feel than its neighbouring Big Sister, and is characterised by its mix of luxurious homes and charming beach bungalows, many of which have breathtaking views, especially at sunset.

Beta Beach and Oudekraal are the two small local beaches most easily accessed on foot from the suburb and are enthusiastically looked after by local residents.  The area homes the longest-standing National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) station in the country and has been declared a Heritage Area.

Bakoven offers a more peaceful sanctuary with its narrow, Mediterranean-esque roads winding down to small, sheltered beaches whilst being close enough to easily take advantage of all the entertainment and amenities offered by Camps Bay and Clifton and only 7.5kms away from Cape Town CBD.

The area offers the following educational facilities within a 5km radius:  Camps Bay Primary School http://www.campsbayprimary.co.za, Camps Bay Preparatory School http://www.campsbayprepschool.co.za, Camps Bay High School nhttp://www.campsbayhigh.co.za, Tamboerskloof Primary https://www.tkps.co.za, as well as the bilingual Deutsche Internationale Schule Kapstadt http://dsk.co.za/?lang=en and Phyllis Jowell Jewish Day School https://phyllisjowell.org.za.

The area even has its own Theatre On The Bay https://www.pietertoerien.co.za/pieter-toerien-theatres/#toggle-id-5 offering both local and internationally-acclaimed productions. The sheer quantity and variety of eateries in neighbouring Camps Bay leaves Bakoven residents thoroughly spoilt for choice:  from casual beachside dining at Paranga https://paranga.co.za to fine dining at Azure at the iconic Twelve Apostles Hotel https://www.12apostleshotel.com/food-and-drink/azure-restaurant.
