See your home come alive with colour this spring

Category News

After months of chilly winter nights and dry and dreary winter days, spring is finally on the horizon. Celebrate the warmer temperatures and blossoming flowers by adding that spring flair to your home.

What better way to usher in the change of season than by sprucing up your home's interior. To help inspire you and get those creative juices flowing, we've pinpointed some must-do, stunning spring trends to set your home abloom:

Colour

Everyone knows just how much difference some colour can make to a room. Well, spring is all about reintroducing those vibrant, fresh and warmer colours to brighten up your living areas after those dreary winter months. Spring 2019's colours are inspired by spring flowers - think beautiful pastels, feminine tones such as dusky pink and pops of bright vibrant colours.

It's worth noting that the Pantone colour of the year for 2019 is the stunningly dynamic 'Living Coral'. Living Coral is the kind of colour which is guaranteed to add warmth to and brighten up any room it is featured in. Another must-have colour which people are using this spring is mint. Mint is the perfect colour to compliment spring, as it does wonders to freshen up spaces.

You can also add personality to a space by including a dynamic pop of colour in the form of a bold, single coloured focal wall or statement carpet in a stunning rich jewel tone.

Patterns

A splash of beautiful patterns in a room can add the 'je ne sais quoi' you didn't know it needed. Spring is all about blossoms and flowers blooming, so why not try adding some nature-inspired, floral patterns in your home? There are so many ways in which you can introduce these patterns, be it with wallpapers, upholstery, scatter cushions or even art pieces. It's time to make the most of floral accents and other fresh spring-inspired patterns such as fruit, birds and tropical prints. If you're going for a slightly more understated look, perhaps look at trying some geometric or line drawing patterns.

Fabrics

Less is more, as spring favours that simplistic, modern look. Make the most of the changes in light and sunshine that spring brings by swapping out those thicker, heavier fabrics and instead introducing some more lightweight, ethereal fabrics into your home. Lighter, sheerer materials are guaranteed to give your spaces a brighter, airier feel to them. You can also make the most of the warmer temperatures by replacing your cotton bedding with something more spring appropriate like linen.

Sustainability is always in style, so look at adding some natural textures to your home in the form of ethical fabrics, carpets and rugs. These are often handmade/handwoven and can be locally sourced. They also add character to any space in which they're placed.

Flowers/houseplants

No living space is complete without some plants and flowers. The perfect accessory to any room, and one that never really goes out of style - plants are an absolute must-have, especially in spring.

Keep your connection to nature with some plants that not only provide a pop of natural colour but that also play a role in purifying the air. Fill your rooms with luscious greenery in the form of tropical low-light plants such as orchids, rubber trees, or delicious monsters.  Other suggestions can be found here.

Finishes

Everyone knows a space isn't truly complete without some fantastic finishes to bring everything together. When it comes to finishes the boho look is back, but this time with a twist: a more modern, cleaner, brighter feel. Combining your colourful spring patterned fabrics with some layering is a great way to achieve that modern boho finish. You should also take note that passementerie is the talk of the town this spring; which you can include in your home in the form of fringe trims, tassels or pom-poms.

Lastly, gilded edges can do wonders in adding that vintage feel to any space and can easily be a feature in whichever room they're placed.
