The first exhibition of 2024, "WELCOME 2024," featuring artists like Ankia van der Merwe and Johan Kok, beckons art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in this rustic bohemian haven and runs until 15 February 2024.

The 2020s - New Forms of Abstraction - Johannesburg

From November 25, 2023, to February 25, 2024, Berman Contemporary in Johannesburg hosts New Forms of Abstraction. This exhibition spotlights a new generation of South African visual artists exploring abstraction as a global and nomadic art style. The exhibit, curated by Els van Mourik, challenges conventional ideas and contributes to the evolution of Contemporary African Art.


Visual Arts Exhibition | Creative Activism - Eastern Cape

From June 22 to July 2, 2024, the Albany Historical Museum in the Eastern Cape hosts a visual arts exhibition on creative activism. Eight young women share their stories through a camera lens, using augmented reality to present their perspectives on societal challenges. 

The exhibition, a response to the pandemic, emphasises the power of art in creating awareness about issues like climate change, social ills, and political landscapes. While quite a time to wait, this event is one of the largest exhibitions in the province and truly worth the experience. 

These noteworthy exhibitions underscore the nation's commitment to pushing artistic boundaries and fostering meaningful conversations. Here's to another year of proudly South African creative ingenuity. 


Knysna Fine Arts - Knysna, Garden Route

In addition to the diverse events at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Western Cape art enthusiasts celebrated the milestone of one of South Africa's most beloved art institutions, Knysna Fine Art, which recently marked its 25th anniversary. The gallery hosts multiple exhibitions and has established a pedigree of excellent artistic expression with both local and international visitors alike. 

Established in 1998 by Trent Read, Knysna Fine Art has become a beacon of contemporary art, showcasing emerging talent and established artists. 

Situated in the historic Thesen House, the gallery now boasts 900 square meters of exhibition space, solidifying its status as the most extensive contemporary and permanent gallery in the Western Cape.
