Hout Bay at a glance

Llandudno & Hout Bay

Named after another beautiful seaside town in North Wales, South Africa's Llandudno concludes a stretch of coastline known as the Atlantic Seaboard and houses some of the most valuable residences on the continent. The small residential suburb measures under 3km and eschews street lights and commercial enterprises thus appealing to those desiring stirring marine vistas that are "far from the madding crowd". Larger, freehold homes are the order of the day in Llandudno and whilst prices vary considerably, even vacant stands fall into the R10m+ category.

Within the neighbouring valley lies Hout Bay, surrounded by majestic mountains to the east, west and north and bordered by the ocean to the south. This fishing village and harbour - which is still operational - features a number of suburbs offering a variety of options from more affordable 1 bed apartments through to multi-million rand designer homes.

Being in such close proximity these neighbouring areas share many of the same facilities from access to superb beaches, educational and medical facilities to restaurants. Despite being located further afield than some of the other Atlantic Seaboard suburbs, Llandudno and Hout Bay are connected to the City of Cape Town by road as well as the much acclaimed MyCiti Bus service https://www.myciti.org.za/en/home/. This previously sleepy outpost of Cape Town has become increasingly popular with families: the area offers a 25-minute commute to the CBD along some of the most beautiful drives in the world whilst offering a safe, family-friendly, community-driven lifestyle, maintained by vigilant Neighbourhood Watch organisations.

Educational needs are covered from pre-school to high school and include the well regarded Hout Bay International School https://houtbayinternational.co.za, Ambleside School of Hout Bay http://www.amblesideschool.co.za, Hout Bay Montessori https://www.houtbaymontessori.co.za and Llandudno Primary School http://www.llandudnoprimary.co.za .

Private medical facilities are easily accessed by the community at the Hout Bay Medical Centre https://www.houtbaymedicalcentre.co.za , with baby-centric medical assistance to be found at the Sentinel Motherhood and General Nursing Clinic https://www.facebook.com/SentinelMotherhoodGeneralNursingClinic/ . A government clinic is also available to residents: Hout Bay Main Road Clinic https://www.westerncape.gov.za/facility/hout-bay-main-road-clinic .

Living in the area provides convenient access to two superb beaches, vibrant markets: Hout Bay Lions Craft Market and Bay Harbour market, a weekend favourite of many Capetonians. Both markets benefit the local inhabitants whether by creating employment or directing the proceeds back into the community. Mainstream Mall http://www.mainstreammall.co.za offers residents all the conveniences of the city without having to leave their valley. Popular local restaurants include Cheyne's, featuring a Pan Pacific menu, The Lookout Deck http://www.thelookoutdeck.co.za where the views rival the food and Massimo's, http://www.massimos.co.za a must for pizza lovers! Quentin at Oakhurst http://www.oakhurstbarn.com/ is a drawcard for foodies whilst Mariners Wharf http://www.marinerswharf.co.za offers options for the whole family.
